If you haven't seen it by now then you're living with horse blinders and ear muffs on, and if you have seen it and you're thinking, "this fucking idiot doesn't think I've seen this yet??" then relax, guy. It's a big story and is so preposterous I had to do something on it. Besides, YOU clicked on ME bitch! -Dave Chapelle (actually funny person)
What I'm talking about is an interview with Jake Paul given by our dutchess of the day, Jemele Hill and co-host Cari Champion, who I actually used to love so you hate to see her being involved in the least funny question of all time. The gals make a joke and ask Jake if "knocking out Nate Robinson was racist?" and he clearly doesn't think it's funny, because it isn't, and kind of brushes it off and shuts it down right away, so naturally, a minute later they ask him again and it goes from being unfunny to being cringeworthy, weird, and feeling like they're trying way too hard to get him to say something he doesn't want to say. Take a peek
Question of the week: was @jakepaul KO to Nate Robinson racist? 😭 pic.twitter.com/ogSqHj764s

I mean good god it's so not funny it almost doesn't make sense. Like, someone watched them do that, or read the script and cleared it to go on to national television?? Classic sleeping at the wheel scenario. And I've seen some people saying it would be funny if someone with comedic credibility, like a Chapelle, delivered it but I'm still not so sure. Obviously someone like Jemele, who's career revolves around having serious discussions around social issues and race, making the joke couldn't possibly be in worst taste. But in her defense, it wasn't totally the botched delivery that did it, whoever decided to include the joke (probably also her) is just as dumb. Also, in a time where racial tensions and issues are at an all time high, isn't making a bad joke about it like....... the worst thing you could do???? Especially for a social justice champion, making fun of it in a clearly non racial circumstance feels fucking weird.
Worst part of all this is any time Jemele gets mentioned or is the news I have to remember that she's a Spartan Dawg which just twists the knife of the shitty joke more than necessary. But if there is one thing to learn from this story and that clip I guess it's this; if you make a shitty joke/ask a shitty question, just ask it again! That way people will forget how unfunny it is and just get mad at you for being stupid. Easy smoke screen. Kudos to Jake Paul for calling them out too, that was some dumb shieeeeeet.
